With AI coming on line with Apple , Google etc.. Amazon missed the boat. What a wasted opportunity. Maybe Amazon will get on board and partner with Open AI or others to make the echo really worth it.

Im not a fan of cloud based ai. It gives people with financial interests that could be counter to your own too much power over you. Biased and Aligned data being returned to each request at the behest of the companies financial and political interests. Open source it. Open-webui and Ollama.

Can’t install the RUclips TV app on my Echo. It’s just a glorified clock with timer capabilities, with constant ads always displaying. Couldn’t even ask for the weather without it telling me about traffic updates to work, even though I work from home. For the life of me I could not turn this feature off.

Honestly if you could tether or use wireless HDMI input for 4K HDR console and PC games they’d solve a huge marketing and use case problem. Add the updated Siri ai and smarter voice control like you mention and I might throw down for one. PS Remote play, or Crossover on MacOS mirroring isn’t a premium experience. And I don’t play dopamine stim mobile arcade games that much. Engineering, games, media and work space, and environmental escapism are all I can think of for VR/AR usecases. NVIDIA is humoring Apple on engineering. They nailed media consumption. Work space seems great at 2.0. They need more environmental escapism. More immersive entertainment experiences and environment backgrounds. I can’t wait till content creation hardware and tools start maturing for this product. But that’s only if they succeed.

Bought am onkyo htib for $50 off a neighbor. Most surprisingly accurate, clear and balanced in both sound and spatial experience I’ve ever heard as a regular small apt consumer. I’m assuming it was a freak pairing of room dynamics and whatever. I would totally spend a premium to get guaranteed satisfactory surround sound and theater screen anywhere without sweaty ear buds or head phones. Large $400 cans aren’t always the most comfortable. I’ll trade the burden from ears to eyes from time to time.

I wish it was just that… As a former Alexa Skill Developer I can ensure you that SDK and support provided by Amazon is very poor and plain terrible. The architecture itself cripples performance and doesn’t make room for building complex creative apps. Does indeed the powerfull apps that do exist are just linking to another app. Also for making an alexa skill requires you to use the amazon aws cloud no other option. But for me the deal breaker was that they disable developer options adb, third party app install on echo show 15. The new update with firetv was the first heavenly update but then they ruined it with no third party apps. Some clever people found backdoor but with an update they sealed that puppy up. Echo Show, Alexa products are just EWaste

We must be living in two different worlds. I took my Show 15 to the office and it works great! I like to have it near my desk to stay on top of notifications and news. I already have Echos all around my home which I use for smart home control and more. Bonus, I can use my Show 15 at my office to control items at home. Oh, well, you do seem to be using it differently than I do. Also, when I tell my Show to turn off display, it does go dark, no light bleed. Anyway, you were saying ....

Your experience is different than mine. I use my Echos to control my light inside and outside. The occasional ads are not intrusive and can be controlled from the Alexa app. Still, just throw them out and send them to me. :D If I recall, I sent you an Echo a while ago?

We use ours for Spotify Connect, other than that, I try to disable any new category Amazon adds to stuff they show me. I won't buy any more going forward.

You can connect a Bose Smart Soundbar to Apple HomeKit. Must set it up first then add as a device to HomeKit. Providing you're using a matter or threat border router, then you'll be in business.

Use an iPad that has its own number so that you can rely on it's location services that will integrate with your cellular provider.

If I had to pay a subscription to use any AI, that device would be going in the trash. As much as the devices themselves are expensive enough. Charging for the Smart Assistant is a nothing short of a way to drive away customers from ever using their devices.

@Craig's Tech Talk, get an ultrawide curved monitor, then you can use stage manager and run final cut pro and have it stretch across the entire screen. It's super cool. Plus if you're using an external SSD drive attached to your iPad to pull video from to edit and return the final product to a folder on the drive.

No thoughts on the echo show, because I don’t own one. I am thinking of getting rid of Amazon prime because of the commercials on their shows I guess Jeff don’t have enough billions of dollars.

Yeah, getting very frustrated! Lately, I can't even watch the short news feed they put on the screen. When I push play to view the video she tells me it isn't available in my location. I don't understand why. It was always available before. I have 2 echo shows and a dot. I should have bought google instead!

7 years of development, and Echo still can't understand the difference between "OFF" and "ON". That has to be the worst programing record ever.

You lasted longer than me, I reset mine and donated it several months ago. The nonstop ads were my final straw too and I tried every tip and trick I could find to turn them off and they still kept coming.

Does everyone know on the echo shows that if you go into settings you can turn off all the adds or anything you don’t want displayed? So for me that’s a non issue as I never get any ads. But I do agree the displays are way too slow.

I agree on a lot of these points, but I do get a good amount of use out of them just in respect to smart home we’re paying that much money on the screen Alexis I’m not gonna get rid of them because they cost a lot more than my dots or smaller ones, but it is nice to have even if only for my doorbell cameras, it’s definitely convenient to have all the screen ones around the house and when somebody rings the bell to be able to get alerted throughout the entire house and for every single screen one actually show you who is at your front or side door for that reason alone and stuff like convenient but I hate fire OS I was so invested in The Alexa ecosystem for my smart home I would probably switch

I ONLY use it to answer my video doorbell. Somebody rings bell and the video pops up and ready right away to talk. Everything else deleted so it only has the ONE purpose

With one exception, I refuse to have an Amazon Echo devices with screens in my home specifically because they're basically advertising billboards. It would be different if there were at least a toggle that said "Allow sponsored content", and if turned off, it drops all ads. But that's not going to happen, so I stick with the speaker devices only, which advertise MUCH less. All I want is to be able to control my smart devices, set alarms and timers, get the time, simple stuff. And all unprofitable for Amazon. The one exception is that I do have a Fire tablet, which has show mode, but is also mostly a regular Android tablet, with the google play store sideloaded.

I donated my Echo Show 8 to my mom. I got so tired of the advertising Amazon did to me constantly. I turned off all the settings I could, and still it kept showing ads to me. Screw that crap. I bought an Echo Dot and then an Echo Pop. I love them. They do what I want, and nothing more!

I’ve had mine for a few days and I have enjoyed the ability to do work on it. I need to spend more time with just the entertainment, but overall it is turning out to be exactly what I needed to assist me in productivity.

After I give my echos a command, they keep asking me if I want to create a routine. I tell it to shut up and just do what I told it to do but it keeps doing it. It’s annoying. I turned off Hunch suggestions thinking that was it but it still does it. Any ideas?

I've never bought ANYTHING from Amazon because Alexa suggested it.....EVER !!!

And the funny thing is, before AI, Alexa was the CLOSEST thing to AI that we all had. Once ahead, now behind.

They did a much better job with the the Echo hub. Not sure why they couldn't have just updated the software on the echo show. Echo hub is a much better device all round but could be improved by letting us move things around on the home screen a little more. @craig why not swap out all your devices for Echo Hubs instead? Or you just had enough? lol

My echo show is garbage and the artificial intelligence 80% of the time gets the questions and answers all wrong it is completely useless
